A new take on an old Russian cartoon I love - "Ezhik v tumane", or "Hedgehog in the Fog" (wow it rhymes in English!)
In the original story, Ezhik or Hedgehog, gets lost in the fog in the forest and the whole time tries to find his way home. My story has a new twist, Hedgehog is now in a Venetian gondola trying to find his way to shore.
First is my illustration, second is a simple animation based on the illustration, and third is my inspiration - the original cartoon. I think it's a masterpiece and I certainly don't come close...
Enjoy!

Lovely little film, your drawing is beautiful.
this is completely wonderful and enchanting - I really love it! beautiful work:-)
What a triple delight here! The animated piece is indeed beautiful-it has a collage-like quality to it. I remember seeing some very old Russian stop-motion animated Christmas films at some bar in Pittsburgh last year, and was floored at how good they were-they were precursors to the Rudolph specials by decades. I was never able to track them down though. Anyhow, your work is also marvelous!
wow i take a few days off and you go nuts with the gorgeous drawings! FABULOUS
Your illustration is great! Awesome colors.
that's really well done... i love the way you did the animation.
Beautiful landscape!
I love your sketch! I also enjoy the hedgehog film every time I see it. Thank you :)
Loved the film! I love the quality of your line drawings.
How sweet of you to give him a holiday in Venice, he most certainly needed it after his adventure, a bit unfortunate about the fog in venice though, hope he doesn't think it's following him! :)
Really enjoyed the cartoon and the beautiful illustration it inspired.
